Santa Maria Valley, California
*This cuvee is named in homage to Jim Clendenen’s deceased, amazing Border Collie “Pip”, former winery mascot.
This is 100% Nebbiolo sourced from the Rancho Sisquoc vineyard located in the Santa Maria Valley (previously a prime vineyard source for Palmina). This is a late-harvested varietal, but always has great acidity when harvested
After initial fermentation in open-top fermenters, the wine is put in both 500L Hungarian oak puncheons and neutral French oak barrels for at least 3 years. Nebbiolo benefits from extended oak aging as the tannins mellow and all the flavor components become more integrated.
