CFV - Viognier - LabelCLENDENEN FAMILY 2017 Viognier

“Le Bon Climat Vineyard”
Santa Maria Valley, California

VINEYARD
This is 100% Viognier sourced from Jim Clendenen’s own Le Bon Climat Vineyard planted in 1998 in the Santa Maria Valley.  Located on the southern border of the Santa Maria Valley overlooking the Santa Maria River, the cool Pacific Ocean air runs right up the valley into the vineyard.

CELLAR
The grapes are hand harvested and sorted in the vineyard.  Le Bon Climat is only 5 miles from the winery, so the freshly picked grapes were pressed shortly after picked.  The juice is settled for two days to minimize the leesy aspect of the wine.  The juice is then barrel fermented in neutral French oak barrels, undergoes full malo-lactic fermentation, and is then aged for 10 months in barrel.  Short term barrel aging and early bottling is standard for Viognier at Clendenen Family to capture the youthful juiciness of this variety.
