“Tikka” was Eric Lemelson’s first Great Pyrenees dog who used to patrol the borders of the two Pinot Gris vineyards.
The Pinot Gris for “Tikka’s Run” is sourced from estate, certified organic vineyards – 42% Wascher Vineyard in the Dundee Hills with Willakenzie sedimentary soil at around 300 feet elevation and 58% Chestnut Hill Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains with Jory volcanic soil at 900+ feet elevation. The vines are kept to low yields, only 2.3 tons/acre in 2014.
The fruit is 100% whole cluster pressed. Then fermented in stainless steel tanks, with 16% transferred to neutral barrels to complete fermentation. The wine is aged 4 months on full fermentation lees.
