VERDAD 2014 “Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard” Tempranillo

VINEYARD
This wine is 90% Tempranillo, 5% Grenache and 5% Syrah sourced from the Demeter certified biodynamic Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard located in the Edna Valley. The Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard is an 80 acre ranch located in the cool (upper Region I) rolling hillsides of Edna Valley. The soil composition is gravelly clay loam with mudstone (very low pH). This vineyard and has been farmed using exclusively biodynamic practices since its inception, and both the vineyard and this wine have been Demeter Certified Biodynamic. The budwood for the Tempranillo is Pesquera clone by way of Bodega Alejandro Fernandez.
CELLAR
The fruit was all hand harvested and de-stemmed, then fermented using only native yeast in open top fermenters. Punched down and pumped over during the three week fermentation. Aged for 21 months in Ermitage and Francois Freres French oak barrels (20% new, 30% one-year old).
